WHANGAKEI, this day

While playing at his home at Tar Town, Hikurangi, a little boy, J. Yelcich, walked up to a draught horse and suddenly struck, it with a stick. The horse lashed out and kicked the child in the mouth, smashing his face.

The boy'e father heard his screams, and took hint homo, where he was treated by a doctor. He was then taken lo the Whangarei Hospital where his condition has improved, though it is still serious.
