COMPANY TO BE WOUND UP.
The Otahuhu public hall, Which has .-been used for meetings and entertainments for sixty-three years, may be skid to be , "under a cloud." An extraordinary general meeting; of,-the shareholders Of the hall company was held this week, a descendant of one of the original shareholders demn n,; that the company should go. into ' : datum on the grounds that it was ;«iot •" paying dividends, although posseting considerable /assets. The meeting was' well attended by shareholders, Mr. J. H. Hall, chairman of directors, presiding.
■The chairman outlined the history of the company and the hall. There were 51 shareholders and 150 shares of £~> f ujjy paid up. In, late years the com - pany had had a chequered existence. It was"pn record that orT one occasion it had been decided to sell the.hall and sit© for _£foO, but the, Mutual Improvement Society had come to the company's rescue with £50 and saved the situation. The hall ''cost nearly £000 to build. Shareholders .were legally entitled to the assets but morally they were not, as many people who were not shareholders had assisted the company financial in the past for the eakej.';fof having a place for meetings and social enjoyment.
