WAIKATO NOTES.

Mrs. F. W. Luxford has returned to Claudelands from a visit to Feilding. Miss A. Brown, of Cambridge, is away on a holiday visit to Whangarei. Miss M. Lander, of Wellington, was in Hamilton during the week. Miss Russell has returned to Cambridge from a visit to America. Miss Sheffield, of Marton, has been staying in Hamilton this week. Mrs. F. G. Woollams, of Feilding, was in Hamilton during the week. Mrs. B. A. Meek, of Hamilton, is spending a short visit at Huapai. Mrs. A. Furze, of Hamilton, is on a visit of some months to Tauranga. Mrs. M. Dean, of Wellington, has been staying in Hamilton. Mrs. Steen, of Rotorua, has been si lying in Cambridge. Mrs. Ricther, of Te Kuiti, has been staying in Hamilton. Mrs. F. Mander, of Hamilton, is away on a holiday visit to Tauranga. Mrs. A. A. Pemberton, of Sydney, is on a visit to her relatives in Hamilton. Miss F. Hall, of Hamilton, is visiting Rotorua. Miss Gordon, of Hamilton, is spending several months in Auckland. Mrs. Sinclair, of Christchurch, is the guest of Mrs. F. T. Wilson, Hamilton. Mrs. A. L. Yule and Miss Yule have returned to Hamilton from a pleasant holiday spent at Waiheke. Mrs. J. Williams, of Claudelands, is away in New Plymouth.

A jolly farewell bridge evening was given on Wednesday by Mrs. A. L. Sheppard, for Mrs. A. Furze, who is leaving Hamilton to spend several months, at Tauranga. The room was decorated with arum lilies and pink ranunculi. Mrs. T. Y. Lusk won the prize for the highest score, and Mrs. E. H. O'Meara gained the hidden number prize. Those present were: Mesdames A. Furze, F. B. Jolly, J. C. Gray, B. A. Meek, E. F. Peacocke, J. E. Chitty, P. E. Stevens, E. H. O'Meara, P. R. Stewart, T. •Y. Lusk, E. Mahqney (Epsom), T. F. Jolly, Misses C. Jolly, Stevens, Wyatt, Wallnutt.

A very successful dance under the auspices of the Hamilton Harriers' Club was held at the Y.M.C.A. as a wind up to the season. The hall was prettily decorated with coloured balloons and paper streamers. The hostesses were Mrs. R. H. Coombe and Mrs. W. Fraser. The trophies won during the season were presented by Mr. F. A progressive bridge evening was given on Thursday by Miss Erina Ward in honour of her guest, Miss Betty Mason, of Feilding. The first prize was won by Miss A. Wilson, and the consolation by Miss N. Valder. Those present were: Misses F. Peacocke, B. Manning, V. Bremner, J. Denning, M. Valder, V Wattg, K. Wilson and D. JK&eon.

At the Lyceum Club on Saturday afternoon a very enjoyable bridge party was held in the lounge room. A committee of Hamilton ladies entertained a number of Cambridge, Te Awamutu and

Hamilton bridge enthusiasts at the club. The room was beautifully decorated with sweet .peas, Iceland poppies and ixias. The hostess was Mrs. H. J. Greenslade. The Cambridge players were: Mesdames Boston Couper, J. Sutherland, W. Stopford, Innes Taylor, Neeley, E. R. Lee, J. Calvert, W. Tod, J. Sawers, Rowland, Misses Brann, M. Hart, Calvert, J. The members of the Ngaruawahia Ladies' Croquet Club gave an "At Home" in the Masonic Hall on Thursday. The hostesses were Mrs. W. Paterson and Mrs. H. Rogers. Bridge and five hundred were played, and the guests had a most enjoyable time. Those present were: Mesdames Feeney, Eyre, W. Cavanagh, Fuller, Bolton, H. Clayton, Peterson, Adams, Bourke, McKeown, Sampson, Saulbrey, H. W. Sampson, Pharo, Gerring, Hennessey, Mcßruer, Omerod, Bourke, Brown, Misses Lindburg, O'Sullivan, Ogilvie and Keaney.

A jolly dance was given at the Nurses' Home, Hamilton, on Thursday, when Matron Keddie and the staff entertained a number of their friends. Those present were: Mesdames M. M. Hockin, Smith, Burrell, Wyatt, Misses Fricker, M. Douglas, Gordon, Tate, I. Carter, Hayes, V. Troutbeek, T. Brown, Sinclair, Shultz, Nicholls, Seville, MacDiarmid, Close, Ross, E. Morton, Greville, McDonnell, Murray, H. Cowie, Pulham, Fordham, Meban, Gardner, Perrin, Stocken, McElwain, Henderson, Walker, Burton, Wrigley, N. Douglas, Hovelk. Mahoney.

At the Regent ballroom on Thursday evening the Dairy Company held their annual dance. The decorations were very pretty. The flowers in the supper room were daffodils arranged in silver vases on the tables. Those present were: Mesdames H. Sterling, Tyne, P.
