LIMITED EXPRESS LATE.
HOT BOX ON DE LUXE SLEEPER NEARLY TWO HOURS’ DELAY. Serious delay was caused to the Limited Express from Wellington this morning on account of a hot-box development on one of the new de luxe sleepers. 'Hie trouble caused the express to be nearly two hours late in arriving at Auckland, and it did pot pull into the station till 11.20 a.m., instead of 9.34 a.m.
The hot-box occurred when the train was travelling between Palmerston North and Marton. The express was pulled up and endeavours made to rectify the trouble without result. As the passengers in the sleeping car were in bed it was impossible to put the car off at a wayeide station. The express proceeded at reduced speed, with frequent stops to attend to the overheated axle bearing. On arrival at Auckland the car was immediately removed to the Newmarket workshops for overhaul.
