DEVONPORT PRESBYTERIANS.

VXKT OF PEUBOATSON. WORK OF THE CHURCH PRAISEDThere was • good attendance at St. Paul’s Chureh, Devonport, on Friday when th* triennial visitation from members of th* Auckland Presbytery took place. The Rev. Morrison Sutherland, of Mount Albert, presided, and spoke of the wonderful progress mad* in connection with chureh work on tha North shore. Belmont was now an established charge, being an offshoot from the Davenport Church, While for a tim* this weakened the membership ef the parent church, that leeway bad been made up, and now both charges ware in a flourishing condition. Not only was there a fine spiritual atmosphere in St, Paul’s, but the financial position was exceptionally good, and all church work under the leadership of their minister, the Rev. Lawson Marsh, was in a progressive state. It was not his place to say at present what the report of the delegation would be to th* Presbytery, but there were certain outstanding features jn connection with the church which were well known to them all, for the church was recognised as a very live organisation in the Master’s Kingdom. The Rev. S. J. Atkins, of Belmont, said that the minister of St. Paul’s did not belong to Devonport alone. Since his arrival in their midst he had become a leader in connection with Prebytery work, and in that sense he belonged to the whole of Auckland. This entailed an enormous amount of extra work for Mr. Marsh, and the congregation should allow hi® to do it. Others of the delegation spoke of the attractive appearance of St. Paul’s, which was one of the most bqputiful Presbyterian Churches in Auckland, and also referred to the very fine work amongst the young men and women of the district.

Mr. Marsh thanked the delegation for their visit, which would be of the utmost use to the church in pointing out new paths of service.
