THE CUP ACCEPTANCES.
JEWEL POINTER'S DEFECTION.

Replying to an allegation that insufficient publicity- was given to the date of tne first acceptance . for <the Trotting Cup, L.«i. H. Uogjiji, acting secretary" of the Metropolitan Trotting Club, states that-on Monday last a circular was .sent to all owners of horses nominated for the New Zealand Cup informing .them that payment was due on Thursuay at noon. If Mr. Moodnbe was anxious that Jewel -Pointer should remain in, he could have wired, back his acceptance a few days previously. However, the club had received a letter from Mr. Moodabe complaining, about the handicap of his horse, and the defect iou of Jewel Pointer when the acceptances closed did not create much amongst the officials."Of the club.
