RECOVERY FROM HARBOUR.
BELIEVED TO BE A SEAMAN.
MISSING FROM STEAMER PAKEHA
The badly decomposed body of a man was found floating between Queen's Wharf and Central Wharf this morning, having apparently been stirred up from the mud by the propeller of the steamer Gallic as she berthed on the western side of the Central Wharf. Identification will depend on the clothing as the head is missing. The body which was dressed in blue serge trousers and waistcoat, and a green and white woollen jersey, is apparently that of a seaman, probably an A.B. of the Shaw Savill and Albion steamer Pakeha, named Malcolm MacKenzie, who has been missing since August 4. The body appears to have been about five feet eight inches in height, which corresponds with that of the missing seaman. The Pakeha is at present loading on the East Coast and is due at Auckland on Monday next when it is hoped that the body will be positively identified.
