WHANGAREI, Friday.

The Whangarei Harbour Board to-day considered a report presented by the chairman on a conference regarding the board's proposals for bunkering overseas vessels at Onerahi. The conference was attended by Mr. H. H. Sterling (General Manager o'f Railways), Mr. F. C. Widdop (Chief Engineer of Railways), Mr. F. W. Furk'ert (Engineer-in-Chief, Public Works Department), Mr. W. Jones (M.P. for Marsden), Mr. F. Fraser, the Whangarei Board's engineer, and the chairman. On the same day as the conference the chairman received a letter from the Minister of Railways setting forth the Department's conclusion and terms, which were: (1) The Harbour Board to forthwith take over the wharf it had agreed to buy and pay over the purchase money; (2) the Railway Department to perform shunting work at the Onerahi wharf as at present; (3) the Railway Department to allow the present cranes to remain on the wharf if desired, until the wharf is removed;.
