WAIKATO NOTES.
The- tennis dance held at Ward villa on Friday was a well-attended function. The members of the committee had decorated the ballroom in the club colours, and it looked very gay. Those present were: Mesdames Bryce, Brookes, C. D. Barker, Holland, Hughes, Wilson, Misses E. Kirk, Gunn, L. McGaham, de Baugh, Carroll, Phillips, A. Whitworth, 0. Tuck, M. Tong, Ayers, Hetherlngton, Lewis, Johnstone, Fussey, Salter, E. Johnstone, McGahan, and Faragher. On Monday evening at the Lyceum Club, the members of the community circle held an enjoyable exhibition of antiques. Some very beautiful silver, old china, and articles of jewellery were much admired. Short talks were given on English oak by Mrs. H. Valder, and on china by Mrs. A. P. Speedy; pewter, Miss IS. Wright; early portraiture, Miss E. Scherer; Sheffield .silver, Mrs. Oswald Smith. The convenor of the circle is Miss Edith Norrish. Those present were: Mesdames H. T. Gillies, H. Valder, W. H. Hume, W. J. Stevens, F. B. Jolly, F. Brewer, E. Mahoney (Epsom), J. W. Warren, P. A gay .little dance was held at Ruakura Farm on Saturday evening in the Assembly Hall. The hostess Was Mrs. Monro, who wore a black lace and ninon frock. An enjoyable dance was held in the Leamington Hall, Cambridge, on Friday. The decorations were rather novel, large Japanese umbrellas and.lceland poppies being used in the ballroom. Those present were: Mesdames Bryce, E. R. Lee, N. Nolan, A. Game, T. Taylor, Horne, Hewitt, Neeley, Chamberlain (Te Awamutu), Souter, Tod, R. Cox, Ferguson, Hart, Rowland, Calvert, Potts, Grummitt, Hay, Skeet, O. Oane, Ritchie, W. S. Williams, Ruah, Allen, Anderson, Misses K. Horne, D. Bryce, R. Calvert, V. Garland, J. Sawers, M. Hicks, D. Cox, R. Lewis, B. Lee, J. Ambury, C. Hart, D. Nolan, R. Speight, B. Skeet, M. Harvie, B. Lee, M. Eastwood, H. Dalliihore, Souter, E. Mackereth, K. Mackay, A. Hewitt, E. Robinson, Christopher, M. The spring flower show was held in the Town Hall at Hamilton on Tuesday. Considering the unfavourable weather experienced lately, the blooms were wonderfully fine, and the decorative work attracted a lot of attention, the tables being a very artistic class.
