WAR MEMORIAL MUSEUM.
PROPOSED SALARY LIST.
MOUNT ROSKILL OPPOSITION
WITHDRAWN
The Mount Rpskill Road Board decided last night to withdraw all opposition to the bill now before Parliament with regard to the maintenance of the War Museum at Auckland. In response to a request from the board, the Auckland War Memorial authorities submitted a detailed list of the salaries proposed to be paid to the museum officials as follows: Director and secretary, £800; four curators, at £400 each; assistant, £200; recorder, £300; typist, £150; carpenter, £250; taxidermist, £300; assistant, £150; janitors and custodians (6), at £243. The chairman (Mr. G. E. Tansley) said the board could now support the bill after receiving Mr. Vaile's assurance that he was not receiving £1000 a year as president of the museum. Mr. 8. I. Goodall remarked that the Franklin county had been excluded from the operation of the bill, and that would affect the amount of the board's annual contribution. Other local bodies were still opposed to the bill. Mr. E. A. Peace thought the board ought to support the bill and do' it graciously. He moved to that effect. Mr. Roberts seconded the resolution, which was adopted.
