MATCH AGAINST TARANAKI.
POLLARD CUP SERIES.
, To-morrow afternoon, when Auckland will meet the Taranaki touring side at Eden Park, will see the end of the 1928 Rugby Union representative season, as far as .local enthusiasts ara concerned. The seasoii will officially close on the following Saturday with the club championship. Weather indications for tomorrow are promising and there should be some spectacular Rugby. At Te Aroha on Wednesday, the Taranaki team, who arrived last evening, scored a very | easy win against the Thames Valley I fifteen, which was well beaten by Auckland last Saturday, the backs throwing tiie ball about in attractive style. The visitors, who are staying at the Royal Hotel, had a run at Eden Park this morning. As Paewai will not be available for the Auckland team, having gone to Wellington for the match between New South Wales and the Maoris, Hook has been moved in to the position of centre, and Stoupe has been given a place on the wing. Falwasser, who was picked as an emergency, has also gone South. The Auckland team therefore will be: Full-back: V. C. Butler. Three-quarters: Stoupe, L. Hook, P. C. Minns. Five-eighths: !NT. .Tenkin, A. Berridge. Half-back: A. McManus. Rover: M. Linton. Front Row: B. Palmer, A. F inlay son. Middle Row: L. Knight, N. Wanoa, A. Knight. Back Row: W. Batty, I. Cathcart. Dunedin and North Shore at Devonport at 3 p.m. to-morrow. As No. 1 ground at Eden Park will not be available for a curtain-raiser to-morrow week, it is more than probable that the club championship final between Ponsonby and University for the Gallaher Memorial Shield will be started at 2.30 p.m. instead of at 3 p.m. as is usual. The University senior team are to travel to Ngatea to-morrow to plai? a combined team. PRIMARY SCHOOLS' GAME. in the A grade final of the Auckland primary schools Rugby football competition yesterday Kowhai Junior High School (winners of the Eden Park groups) beat Otahuhu (winners of the Show Ground group) by 15 points to S. Tries for Kowhai were scored by Nisbet (two) and Ellis. Meßae drop-kicked a goal, and Ellis converted a try. Mr. G. Peace was referee.
