SOCCER FIXTURES.
A.F.A. CHAMPIONSHIP.
PONSONBY MUST BEAT Y.M.C.A,
LIVELY CONTEST LIKELY.
The meeting of Ponsonby and Y.M.C.A. at Blandford Park to-morrow afternoon is of first rate importance as having a more or less deciding influence on the championship for the season. Ponsonby and Tramways are running a neck and neck race, and the former cannot afford to yield even one point without seriously jeopardising their chances of ultimate success. Y.M.C.A;, in the Chatham Cup meeting with Ponsonbly, soundly and decisively trounced the city combination, but the latter are in a position of fielding one of their strongest teams of the season, and are certain to make Herculean efforts to revenge the previous defeat and maintain their place one'point ahead of Tramways. Everything points to the match being of the most thrilling nature and well worth seeing. As an introduction to the principal match a team from Hamilton will play the North Shore. Interest centres in the match as an indication of the relative standard of provincial and city Soccer. Nortlicote will provide the opposition for Tramways, and the corporation side will find that their opponents are far from a spent force, while Belmont's visit to Onehunga looks like two points to the home side.
