VISIT OF LORD LOVAT.
DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE'S
PROPOSALS.
UNITED CONFERENCE PROPOSED.
A meeting of< the New Zealand Land Settlement and Development League was held yesterday, Mi 1 . W. J. Holds - worth presiding. •It was resolved that the president and secretary should wait on the president of the Chamber of Commerce and explain to him the intentions of the Iteague and its reason'/'for advocating a settlement board to encourage development in the Dominion, and ask the assistance of the chamber's oouncil in the proposed conference. Mr. M. 6. McArthur thought that the conference should include representatives of all kindred associations and embrace representatives of country chambers of commerce. The arrangements made in connection with the visit -of Lord Lovat (chairman of the Overseas Settlement Board) were approved so far as they had gone, and it was decided to await further information before finalising the programme. The secretary explained that the request that Lord Lovat be taken by road to Rotorua so that he might see the country, en route, had been forwarded to the Government.
