HOSPITAL AUXILIARY.
The annual meeting of the 'Auckland Hospital Auxiliary took place on Wednesday afternoon in the lounge of the Lycenm Club, when the patroness, Mrs. A. D. Campbell, occupied the chair and was supported by Mrs. A. Kidd, president, and Dr. Buckley Turkington, hon. secretary. Mrs. Campbell spoke of the wonderful success of ths auxiliary. When it was started doubts had been expressed of the need, but it had done a great work amongst the sick patients and their families, allowing the other social workers to concentrate on the unem-j ployed. The different circles had worked hard and the wireless had done a great deal to enliven the patients in the wards. It was hoped that shortly every patient would be provided with a head phone. Mrs. Kidd, in her address, referred to the loss of Mrs. Maguiro'a and Mrs. Taylor's help and stated ft was hoped to extend the work t« the St. Helens and mental hospitals. Mr. William Wallace, chairman of the Hospital Board, congratulated the society on its good financial position, and said the public should know more about the work which had been done. Dr. Hilda No'rthcroft also spoke of the line human side of the organisation.

(the Mayoress) as convener, have 1 done splendid work. In addition *to toys and sweets, and the Christmas tree 1 which have been donated for many years past, this committee has collected £102 12/. This forms a fund for purcliasing flannel and wool, which the ladies made into jackets, and additional bed jackets, vests, etc., were made. One special chair has been presented from the council to this branch and two more are on order, for use in the children's ward. Mount Eden branch, with Mrs. Potter (Mayoress) convener, received £146 14/1 by donation, Paddy's Market, Central Council. Over 600 garments have been delivered to the depot during the year. In conjunction with the main executive, this branch in July decided to provide the Alexandra Home tlrith comforts, and books and cushions have already been provided. The Onehunga br«lHch, with Mrs. Coldicutt (Mayoress) as convener, undertook to be responsible for the Epsom Infirmary and have provided that institution with j garments, wireless, concerts, piano, and i in many other ways have done excellent work. The sewing committee supplied 122 garments. Cars were supplied, and outings for patients arranged every fortnight. The depot committee with Mrs. Prendergast (convener), secretary (Mrs. H. Hyde), has had a very busy year. During the first month of its work 340 garments were distributed. At its last month nearly 3000 garments with fruit, eggs and extra comforts were given out. The city sewing circle in the charge of Mrs. Rapson (convener), secretary, Mrs. Oxley, have knitted 66 garments and in conjunction with the distributing committee have made up pyjamas, flannel shirts and other garments to the number of 171. Hyde); investigation, Sister Hannah sewing, Mrs. Carr Smith; entertainment, Mrs. Hugh (secretary, Mrs. . Drysdale); motor excursions, Mrs. Tiarks, Mrs. Leeper; badge, Mrs. Ernest Davis; ; motor transport, Mrs. Marler; sunshine, ! Dr. Buckley Turkington; collection boxes, 1 Mrs. A. D. Campbell and Mrs. Bolitho; ! wireless, Mrs. M. Dreaver; branches, 1 Onehuuga, Mrs. Neill, Mount Eden, Mrs. c Potter, Newmarket, Mrs. D. Donaldson.
