CASE PETROL PRICES.
BELOW THE BULK BATES. RETAILERS' GRIEVANCES. PROTEST TO IMPORTERS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NELSON, this day. After a long discossion in committee, the Motor Traders Conference passed the following resolution: — "That this meeting of representatives of petrol re-sellers of New Zealand view* with concern the increasing importations of case petrol, which is being retailed at prices considerably lower than those at which bulk petrol is retailed through ordinary trade channels. When petrol re-sellers were induced to instal pump* and make contracts for bulk petrol, they were informed by importers that a saving of 3/ per unit of 8 gallons could be made by importing petrol in bulk instead of in cans and cases- It has been proved that case petrol is retailed at 1/10 per gallon at main ports, and bulk petrol should therefore be retailed at 4Jd per gallon less. The small margin of profit allowed re-sellers does not permit their meeting this competition, and they therefore call on oil importers to protect them against this competition."
