TRANSPORT PROBLEM.

FORMATION OF BOARD. CITY COUNCIL'S DECISION. POLL OF RATEPAYERS. The Auckland City Council, at a special meeting this afternoon, unanimously approved of a decision previously made in committee, to approve of the findings of the Transport Commission in regard to a transport board, and decided to take a poll of the ratepayers on the subject. • Mr. A. J. Stall worthy agreed that the matter should be determined by the ratepayers, but thought with the formation of a transport board it was possible that the conditions might be worse for the suburbs, without possibility of relief as provided by present legislation. Mr. A. J. Entrican said that the decision was the only way out of a difficulty. The council would have a majority on the proposed board. It would be left to the ratepayers to either endorse or reject the proposal.
