WELLINGTON WINTER SHOW.
OPENED IN NEW BUILDINGS.

WELLINGTON, Wednesday.
The ceremony of opening the Wellington Winter Show, which this year is being held in the society's new buildings, was performed to-day by the GovernorGeneral, Sir Charles Fergusson, in the presence of a large gathering, including Lady Alice Fergusson and the Prime Minister and Mrs. Coates. The president of the Winter Show Association, Mr. R. H. Nimmo, welcomed the visitors. Tho Governor-General (who said he had lately joined the "Society of Abridged Oratory") referred to the progress industry had made in the past 54 years, and recalled that at the 1885 exhibition it was prophesised that wool would only be exported in an unmanufactured form. He stressed the value of the exhibition in bringing manufacturers and town and country people toIhe exhibition would become a great industrial centre.
