INTOXICATED WHILE DRIVING
FARMER FINED £10. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) PUKEKOHE, this day. A plea of guilty was entered by Reginald Murphy, a well-known young farmer, of Puui, at Court this morning to a charge of being intoxicated while in charge of a car. It was stated that Murphy consumed a few drinks on his way home shortly after six o'clock on a stormy, rainy evening. He was compelled to swerve to avoid running over a dog and his car skidded on a camber in King Street, striking the water fountain on the footpath. Accused was given a good character by , the police. Counsel (Mr. E. G. Foster) submitted that Murphy had consumed sufficient liquor to impair his faculties, but insufficient to make him incapable of driving %sJß*V*''',\. v--.
