MIDNIGHT ADVENTURE.

It was midnight, and all wa« peaceful in the boarding-house. The moon's pale rays cast a ghostly gleam over all. Suddenly a door opened. "I must get that toothache mixture," whispered little Miss James, the elderly boarder, to herself. Click! Another door opened, and Hies James shrank back into the shadows. From it emerged two men, one of whom was carrying a poker in his hand. Be quiet or be will be warned." Miss James was in a quandary. Shotld she call out and so warn the victim? If she did the men would escape. The next morning at breakfast, one of the men said to Miss James, "did you sleep well last night, Miss James? I hope Jim and I didn't disturb you.
