SUBURBAN ASSOCIATION.. INCREASED MEMBERSHIP. COACH FKOM ENGLAND. The rapid advance made by the Auckland City and Suburban Cricket Association was Hhuwn in the report submitted at the fifteenth annual meeting last evening. It v/a* tinted that last season ninety teams took part in the rarlous competitions, as compared with sixty the previous year. The junior grades, in particular, showe an incri'ii sod membership. I'.ftttiiiK and bowling showed a marked Improvement, while there were signs that the standard of bowling was becoming better each year. One-day matches, brought about by the daylight saving measure, proved very successful, but later a change was made to two-day matches, and, from ex-P'-ricfice, there appeared little likelihood that one-day garnet*would again be tried. The lose of the playing ground at Hemuera was a serious one, as many as twenty truniH playing there. The thanks of the association were ■njorded the-groundsman at the Domain, mid also the Auckland City Council for ilicir efforts toward* providing further playing ttelds. It was hoped that this year some matched would be played at the new ground at Western Springs. In the Walker Shield competition, open to provincial teams, and won by Auckland, Hie standard of play shown was very high. Jn the local competitions, the A grade championship wns won by Harbour Board, and the senior B section by Victoria. He the appointment of a coach, the president Mr. J. Elliott, said that G. Cox, the Sussex player, had accepted an engagement with the association, and would leave England next Sunday. The initial expenses had been cabled to Cox. and it was thought .ertaiii that the remainder of. the sum lor linancing the project would be -orthto The* meeting decided to support a notice of motion from the Hnrbour Board Club usklng that the Suburban Association's representatives be given conslderatloQ In the selection of the Auckland provincial "Air* K.
