Commenting in the Berlin newspaper "Berliner Tageblatt" "oh "the Verdun battle, Major Moraht, the German military critic, says: "It is a sad fact of this sanguinary war that two nations-which could rule the world together and promote kultur are destroying each other. These two peoples have no grave reason for attacking each other. The German people will not allow themselves to be blamed for bringing "on' the v war. They must also not blame the' French people. A few thousand people originated the war."
