THE DRILL HALL.
REFUSED FOR CATHOLIC FAIR.
STATEMENT BY BISHOP LENIHAN.
Speaking at the opening of St. Patrick's Dominion Fair_at the fioyal Albert Hall last night, Bishop Lenihan made reference to the inability of the committee to secure the drill hall lor the festival. The committee, he said, had been greatly assisted by his Worship the Mayor, the Defence Office, the lion. j. A. .Miliar, and the Prime Minister, in striving to obtain for them the use of the Drill Hall, and if their appeal had succeeded thoroughly, they would have had it for the elaborate display then in progress in a building inadequate for the purpose. Unfortunately there was a gentleman named Holgate ("Oh!"), and another named Reed ("Oh!"). The bishop, deprecating the interruptions, proceeded to say that the committee, in applying for the Drill Hall, were prepared • to provide the volunteer forces with the Royal Albert Hall for drill purposes during the fortnightof the bazaar, had their application for the Drill Hall been granted. It was also iiiLended to present a trophy to the volunteers. The two officers,- however, remained adamant, and threatened to resign their positions if the application were granted.
