RAGLAN NEWS.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) RAGLAN, December 6. The Raglan Tennis Club opened the season on Wednesday afternoon. During the afternoon tea and cakes in abundance were supplied by the ladles. Morris-tube practice has begun at Te Mata in connection with the recently formed club. Prizes for the best marksmanship have been offered by Mr. Bankart. The Te Mata school children will probably leave for Auckland, via Hamilton, on Thursday, 12th, accompanied by their teacher (Mr. Gibson) and his family. A large and varied programme has been pr&pme<l for the New Year Sports' gathering to be held at Raglan The annual meeting of Raglan County Council was held on Wednesday. Councillor Hewett Bankart McGuirk hospital representatives Commissioner of Crown Lands wrote that before sections 185 and 186 can be offered for selection they will require to be re-surveyed, which will be done as soon as possible. The tender of Mr. Joyce was accepted for Maori. Garden-road. A communication was received from the Native Land Purchase Office, enclosing a cheque for £86, Te Akau rates, this being the result of the Council's deputation to Wellington. It was resolved that the Council give the guarantee of £10 asked by the Minister of Telegraphs for the extension of the telephone to Ruapuke. Councillor Johnstone's action in accepting the tender of Mr. Nlcol to build the Tunaki Bridge. £165 4/3, was confirmed.' Accounts amounting to £1240 6/7 were passed for payment. In reply to a petition received from Mr. S. B. Hill and seven others it was decided to grant £5 to open up a right of way through section 4, block 8, Raglan, Mr. Kyngdon giving the property and other subscribing cash or labour. Several contracts were dealt with. Councillor Johnstone was authorised to expend £30 on Nobles-road and the Karamuroad. It was agreed, on the motion of Councillor Bankart, that £325 be voted for the Raglan-Waipa road, and that the engineer prepare a report for expenditure of this amount, also with Government grant of £250: Councillors were authorised to carry out different small works in their respective ridings.
