There was a full attendance of-membees at the meeting of the Otahuhu Road Board held on Thursday evening.

A-letter -was received from the clerk, of the Mt. Wellington -Road- Board, giving, notice that the Mount Richmond scoria pits would be closed after October 22, ''uUtii further notice, to allow of the pits' being cleaned up, and fresh arrangements being made for tne working of the quarries. It was resolved to pay a deposit on the purchase of the strip of land required for the widening of Main-street, under> offer from Mr. J. W. Andrew. . •.' -~'. 1 '

Mr. Jas. Miller wrote offering to supply 500 yards of blue metal broken to size to suit the Board's requirements, at price of previous contract. It was, decided that the offer should be considered. There * being. a considerable quantity of blue metal chips •left on hand, it was decided to utilise ■ them In the formation of a footpath much needed on .the Panmure-road, between the Army Barracks and Absolum's" corner.

The Nil Despeiandum No. 6 Good Templar Lodge met on Friday evening for the election of officers. The following were installed as officers for the year: P.C.T., Bro.' J. Morris; C.T., Bro. .W. Thwaites; V.T.-; Bro. George Harvey; secretary, Bro.■'•' W. ( Galloway; financial secretary, Sister Mrs.Binclalr; treasurer, Sister Mrs. Crow; assistant secretary, Bro. J; Dalton; chaplain, i Sister Dalton; marshal, Sisten Montgomery-, deputy marshal. Sister Gilbertson; guard, Bro. Nutter; sentinel. Sister Erne; pianist, i Sister finance committee, Bros.' W. Andrew, Geo. Galloway, and W. Pee; delegates to District Lodge, Bros. "Pee, i Thwaites, Dalton, and G. ■ Galloway \_ other! working committees were also elected .to carry on the business of the, lodge. -

Rev. H. Mason entertained the children of the Anglican Sunday-school last evening with a series of •limelight views, embracing scenes from Bible history," the Holy. Land; pictures, of English, cathedrals, and places of historic Interest. Nor was the amusement of the children forgotten,'some comic slides being displayed, to their great delectation. . "'
