LOOKING FORWARD.
RAILWAY NORTH ALONG THE FORESHORE. At the meeting of the council of the Chamber of Commerce yesterday afternoon, the President (Mr N. A. Nathan);, stated that a deputation from Kaipara had asked that the Chamber 'would take action in the direction of urging the Auckland Harbour Board to make provision in the reclamation scheme for a railway at some future date, to be carried along the foreshore on the western, side of the wharf to' cave the detour around Newmarket to get to the Kaipara. He had promised to bring the matter before the Chamber. ■- ...;-_

Mr Burt said there would have to be a railway across Queen-street to reach the Hobson-Street Wharf under the present Scheme of works.
Mr Aickin said it was just as well to have provision made for -a line that way for some time in the future;- The Harbour Board Engineer should be asked to report upon the matter. "•
It was agreed to write that the Chamber was in sympathy with provision being made for such a railway in the future.
