At Hobart a meeting of commercial men strongly protested jgainst the tariff, and secession was in the air. _ Several speakers objected to "Tasmania being butchered to make a iPktorian holiday."
Mr. Deakin has left Melbourne on a visit to Queensland for the benefit of his iealth.
