The manager telegraphed to-day: "Secured lOlbs of picked stone at the 50 feet level. Gold left showing.?. ■, ,-.-* MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS. 'Waihi Gladstone.— During the last fortnight the crosscut has been extended 23ft, the total from the shaft being 297 ft. An Sin leader was intersected at 280£t. This Is well defined and the quartz is slightly mineralised and assays a trace of silver. Work has ceased temporarily owing, to the level being flooded through heavy rain. Comstock United.—A distance of 10ft has been driven for the week, and a change for the better has taken place. Progress is slow owing to the necessity of still having to timber. Am pushing on the crosscut back from the face and. expect to get the lode this week. Taima Triumph.—No. 1 lode still looks well, and when broken down showed good dabs and colours distributed through the ore. " The distance driven on this lode from -the eastern break is 5Mt. and It carries good gold for the whole distance. The manager intends to sink a winze on this lode to prove it at a depth. and_sWd the gold go down, an additional BWt of hacks can be obtained by driving a lower crosscut of 100 ft. ■ ■. ■'.-•' May Queen Emended- —to the intermediate level an additional Mft have been driven, making a total of 60lt. The lace is now in a mixture of clay and Sandstone, through which veins of quartz are running. These veins will no doubt connect with the Rocky Point reef, which it is 'expected will be intersected as soon as solia-country is reached. At last breaking down in Hansen's winze a few pieces of stone, which may be classed as "picked stone." were obtained. The lode <s fully lOin in width, and lias improved in appearance. WARDEN'S COURT. (By Telegraph.—Own •correspondent.^ WAIHI, Wednesday. At the Warden's Court the following applications were granted:—W. ■H. Thompson, Maybell Extended claim of five acres, Waitekauri: Maoriland Company, protection for six months for Maoriland Extended claim; 3. W. Thorp, permission to work the Incognito claim with;, two men for six months; N.Z. Jubilee Co., similar request for Jubilee Extended claims; J. A. Piekett, surrender of residence site.
