William Stanton, known -.as? :"The Healer," who had been practising here for some time past as a caicer-cuxer, ■was convicted in the Supreme Court on a charge of manslaughter in respect of the .death from diphtheria of a yoiing ■man treated by him, and sentenced to •four months' imprisonment. Stanton had failed to diagnose the case as one of diphtheria, and his treatment, according •to the medical testimony, was absolutely useless for the purpose of checking the complaint. Had the patient received proper treatment Ms life would have been saved. ■ . , :
