VITAL STATISTICS.
(Received 9.22 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. The marriages in New South Wales during last year totalled 11,551, the highest for twenty years, excepting in 1901. The deaths were 14,975, being 12 per cent below the mean rate for the last ten years, and the lowest on record.
N.S.W. RAILWAY REVENUE.

In the past twelve months the railway revenue of New South Wales has increased by £519,000, as compared with last year.
PETER CLOSE DEAD.
SYDNEY, June 30. The death occurred to-day of Peter Collison Close, who was prominently connected with W. P. Crick (ex-Minister for Lands) and W. N. Willis, ex-M.L.A., in the recent inquiries relating to the land scandals in this State. The proceedings throughout proved a great strain on the deceased.
CABLE BREVITIES
The amount returned by the Commonwealth to New South Wales for the past year increased by £279,100.
The New South Wales Parliament will be opened to-morrow.
