VICTORIA CRUISING CX,CB.

The fourth annual smoke concert of the above club was held in the Federal Clubrooms ou Friday evening last. There was a large attendance, some two hundred members and their friends being present. Commodore Cowie occupied tbe chair, and T-epresentatives from th« viirious clubs were in attendance, including Commodore Murdoch and Mr Uewsoo (Royal New Zealand Ya-cbt Squadron), Messrs Patterson and Whaley (rousonby Cruising Club), Mr Sinton (of the North Shore Yacht ClnE). Mr Ollis CDe.vonport Yacht Club), and also representatives from the Maim-, kan and Richmond Yacht Clubs. During , the eveniug tie club's palron (Mi - E. Davis) presented the prizes won during the season to the successful winners. The yacht Mayo was the principal winner, sue baring secured five trophies, including the champion flag aiiil two splendid silver cups. Later on in the evening Mr E. Davis wns presented with a very handsome shield from the members of the club, in esteem of the good work nnd generosity which Mr Davis had bestowed on the clnb since its formation. Mr McKay, In making the presentation, spoke of the good way in which Mr Davis always came to the front and assisted the club in all Its functions, and also the very pleasant outings which Mr Davis had tendered to the ladies and friends of the club. Mr Davis said he was more than delimited to receive such a handsome presentation. A capital mnsical programme was given, and there were numerous recalls. The contributors were Messrs Bob Lloyd, Carl Brown, F. White, Gaullagber, Williams. G. Nicholson, F. Adeane, D. Healy. and Paterson. The entertainment was one of the most successful in the annals of the club, and much credit is due to the committee which had the arrangements in liand.

SMOKE CONCERT.

The Auckland Engineer Volunteers 'No. 4 Co.), held their annual smoke conceit at the Drill Hall on Friday. a large number attending. Captain Tapper presided over the meeting. An excellent musical programme- was provided, tire following items receiving special recognition on the part of the audience:—Tenor-horn, solo. Sergeant Gilbert: violin dcet. Mr Anderson and Sapper Butterworth; mouth horn so'o. Sapper Handley; and songs by Mr. Doran. Sergeant Gibson. Corporal FrickPr. and Sapper Pethybridge. Th* following toasts wpre honoured: "The King," "Our Own Officers" (responded to by Captain Tapper), and "Our Instructors." responded to by Corporal Wrigley, of the Permanent Staff. An excellent supper was provided at tne conclusion of the entertainment. Messrs. ,T. Buchanan and Company being the caterers.
