JUBILEE CHIMES.

O'er hill and dale and dimpling vale, Night draws her gossamere, No eye may mark the flowery park, The stars permit no peer. While tne jubilee bells, with joyous sweUs, Are chiming loud and clear. Chiming loud for the. sailor, thrall of the fair false sea. Chiming low for the landsman, feller of Tane's tree. Wooing the town to high renown. "The cross! the cross! the crown! the crown!" (Tnev are chiming) "The life to be! Glad bells, loud bells, the old world bells, In the new land over sea. Chiming, chiming. The joy of the jubilee. Beneath the blare the tall lamps flare. On ferry, pier, and quay, Down the waterman ' stairs they glisten, The tide comes there to listen. As one in a reverie. Then slips away with an easy Sleight. From the pulsing bells and the kindly light, To silence and mystery. While the chiming bells, with their joyous swells. Are telling the jubilee, Chiming low for the gallant leader of days gone by, Chiming loud for the legions that carry the standard hisrh. Glad hells, loud bells, the old world bells, For the new land over sea. Chiming, chiming. The joy of the jubilee. 'Neath starry skies, the echoes rise, From many a startled hill, » The ferney maze of olden days, Sn lone, so wild, so still. But the strenuous years of toils and fears, Vibrate in the bells athrill. Chiming loud for the hearths and homes over the valley and steep. Chiming low for the grassy graves and the pioneers who sleep. A time of joy, a time of tears, The jubilee of uplifting years. The bells chime earnestly. Glad bells, loud hells, the old world bells, For the new land over sea. Chiming, chiming, . . The joy of the lubUee.
