MAE-TANA.
HIS MAJESTY'S THEATEE.
Mr. J. C. Williamson's New English Dramatic Company gave another highly successful production of "Robin Hood" at His Majesty's Theatre last evening, when the building was crowded in all parts. "Robin Hood" will be repeated to-night. On Monday evening "Raffles" (the .Amateur Cracksman), by E. W. Hornung and Eugene W. Presbrey, will be staged for the first time in Auckland. It is said to be a most remarkable play of absorbing interest, Which has a clear, well-written dialogue, and telling situations told in a most fascinating manner. Mr. Knight's representation of the -heroic thief is said to be one of the best things he has done. In fact it gives him an opportunity of displaying capabilities for tense work which he has never had in his. more picturesque characters. Miss K. Elbert-Orton appears as Mrs. Vidal, and Miss Marion Grey makes her initial appearance here as Gwendoline Conron. The full strength of the company appear in "Raffles."
On Tuesday, July Oth, and following nights St. Patrick's Operatic Society will present Wallace's opera, "Maritana." The society is sparing no expense to make this production a successful one.
