Business on the Exchange showed in* provement to-day, especially in respect to shares in the Talisman Company, free sales being made from 35/9 to still an unsatisfied demand at. the latter price. Waihi shares also firmed .slightly sajes being made at 176/3, with .'further buyers at 176/, Grand Junctions I were inquired for at" 40/) and 5/7. Another stock jvhich firmed! a little was Tairua &cfcen ..Hiiis, ',sales being made at 4/3, and."more", shares were wanted at 4/2, N,Z, cWn Shares sold at 6/4,, and Waiotahis at!2o/67! Thi buying price for several standard'stocks also improved. Bank of New Zealand shares were wanted : at 213/,.and/for National Banks 111/6 was offered,"with no quoted seller under 114/.
