Parliament was opened at 2.30 this afternoon by His Excellency the Governor, with the usual ceremony, the Speech being read in the Legislative CouncD Chamber, in the presence of a large gathering of members of both Houses and the public

"WELLINGTON, this day. Subsequently the sitting was adjourned, until Tuesday, as a mark of respect to the. late Sir John Hall, the Hon. A. Pitt, the Hons. W. Walker and W. M. Bolt, Bud Messrs. Smith and Kirkbride, members who had died since last session. The Premier and a large number of legislators will attend the funeral of Sir John Hall at Christchurch to-morrow. !A full report of the Governor's Speech ■was on the wires when this edition went to press.
