The ordinary meeting of the Women's Christian Temperance- Union was heM on Wednesday afternoon in the Central Mission Hall. Owing to inclement -weather, there was a. small attendance. A considerable amount of correspondence was dealt with. It was resolved that a letter be forwarded to Mr Dyer, S.M., thanking him for Ms remarks at the recent lieens' ing committee meeting, expressing his regret that the recommendation of the committee at the last annual meetin? that licensees should dispense with the services of barmaids in hotels, had not been complied with. A resolution from the District Union was also passed, to be forwarded for discussion at'the annual meeting of the New Zealand Alliance, to be field at Wellington next month, re the abolition of barmaids. A further supp'v of petition papers for the abolition of the totalisa-tor were distributed for signature. All-wool fringe travelling rugs, from the Petone nulls. Choice selection.
