FASHION NOTES.
Small round collars of embroidered lawn, edged with kilted lace, form additions to the wardrobe which will be very popular this season, and these will be worn over the collars of serge coats. They possess this advantage, that they can be washed over and over again, and will do duty for numbers of last season's costumes, which can be wonderfully freshened and. rejuvenated by this addition.
Another pretty addition to the toilette is represented by the embroidered bretelles which will be worn so extensively ■with this season's blouses. These are brought from the shoulder to the waist —back and front---and are connected in front with two or three cross-bars of embroidery to match, the whole being edged with narrow frilled lace.
The new-shaped toque, known is the "flat-iron"—a name suggested by its close resemblance to this homely domestic implement—is among the latest innovations in the realm of millinery- It is frequently carried oat in a. combination of blue and green velvet trimmed with velvet fruit. These huts are. besides, to be had in fur. ■ in which case the trimming usually takes tie form of a little cluster of camellias or shaded velvet roses. A touch of bright scarlet lights up many dresses and hats in brown shades. Green is used as the lining for Hull grey coat and skirt costumes. The coat or cloak with a hood is another of the up-to-date atractions. thongh the hood is entirely ornamental, and could not be utilised, even should it be wished, as a head covering-
