WAIHI, this day. Bishop Neligan is expected to visit Walhi on Wednesday nest, June 5, when he_ will administer confirmation at St. John s in the afternoon and address a public meeting at night. The compensation case, Walhi Printing and Publishing Company v. the Waihi Borough Council, in which the former claimed £700 damages, alleged to hive been sustained in consequence of the Council excavating a hill and leaving the plaintiffs premises Isolated, was continued all day. Mr H. P. Barry, former chairman of the County Council, gave evidence as to the grading of the main street. He fully believed thEt the grading was Intended to be absolutely a permanent work. Mr W. JGeddls, managing director of the company, produced figures showing a big decline In business during the time the premises were isolated, and a rapid increase when new premises were established. He had purchased the present site of the printing works as a private speculation, but the exigencies of the circumstances in company hot being able tn socm-e another suitable site necessitated him handing his purchase over to the company. He had repeatedly protested against the excavation work pro eeedlng both verbally and by letter.
