GALE AT CHRISTCHURCH.
CBy Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The gale at Christehurch raged all last night. In-the early evening snow fell to some extent, but melted immediately. Not much rain fell, but it is rain ng this morning. The gale has now abated.
THBEE HOUSES DROWNED.
GORE, Monday. An accident, involving tiie loss by drowning of % three-horse team and the narrow escape of the driver, Arthur James, occurred at Gore to-day. In attempting to ford the Waikaka Eiver, which is in flood, the team got into, difficulties, and the driver, in an unsuccessful attempt to cut the sha-fter free, neirly lost his life, but managed to struggle to the bank. Thft team was valued at over £100.
