LORD MEATH'S MESSAGE.
COMMUNITY OF FUSE NATIONS. LONDON, May 27. ' The Earl of Meath, the prime mover for the celebration of Empire Day, sends a message to-day, through Uie Press of the Empire, in which lie urges boys and girls, their parents and their teachers, to try to realise that the Empire consists of a majestic community of free nations, freely governing themselves, and owing its being to the vast sacrifices, enterprise, and valour of our forefathers — bound together by one King, one flag, one navy—and forming a federation, such as the world has never known. These allied peoples, he says, look to each other for practical sympathy, protection, and co-operation, and he appeals to the rising generation to be ready in time of j need to think, labour, and bear hard- j ship, to excel in tae practice of faith, courage, duty, self-discipline, fair dealing, even justice, good citizenship, loyalty, patriotism, and sympathy, thus elevating, strengthening, and consolidating the Empire and the race.
