'« ■ j ADVANCE ET PBICES. (By Telegraph.—Press AssoclaUoa.) CHBISTGHDS.CH, Wednesday. A conference of woollan ma.nufactnr j ers in New Zealand was held yesterday in the Kaiapoi premises. The meeting was/private, and strictly confined to representatives of the firms directly concerned. It is understood that proposals were discussed for modifying the excessive competition amongst the colonial manufacturers of woollen goods. It is stated in a Wellington telegram that a meeting there ias been convened by Dunedin manufacturers, but the imDrcssion here is that the initiative was really taken !?y the Kaiapoi Company. ASHBUKTON, Wednesday. " The Guardrian" states tEat as the result of the conference of woollen manufacturers held in ChriEtchurch oa Tuesday goods generally will be advanced 10 per cent in price, and circulars to that effect ha,ve been issued by the manufacturers to their clients.
