Iα liis ■weekly - report the manager states that driving east oh the* footwali dropper is being continued, and No. 6 level, »and durins the week 51b of picked stone has uceu selected, the reef being; about a foot in tnicKness. This drive is now in Sift. Tie teaaing stqjfe west on the main reef above tins level As still In. progress, and has been carried 34ft from- No. -1 -winze, and on Sarnrday some good dabs of gold were seen. The stripping of the. small hanglugwall vein in this stope is also being- carried on in the north crosscut from the main shaft. Not a great deal has been done in the lace, as the ground on the hanging-wall of tHe Slain reef is very rotten, requiring the crosscut to be timbered. The total distance drivenfrom the chamber is 180 ft. Cure reef: In the drive .west the reef Is" a* good deal split up at present. This • face is in 141 ft fronv the crosscut: The second stope on this reef has been carried west from the crosscut lOSft, or up to the face of the. leading stope. The -second stope east has been carried along 12ft. At No. 5 level east the main reef has shown some good daos of gold, and is about Bft" in thickness. Tms face te now in 257 ft from the No. 1 winze. Driving • west on the main reef from the north crosscut is'now In 134 ft, but so far. has not shown any.gold. In the stojjes above this level a large quantity or crushing dirt is coming to hand. In tne sixth stope,/which has been carried 3tt .east of No. 1 winze', no yuartz has been •broken during the last three days, as tne men have been engaged in filling in tue fifth stope going .east. This ;s now completed. During the first part of. the-week 1501b of picked stone was obtained, and a further 1601b to-day (Monday), making a total so far for the month of 7cwt 851b. No., 4 -level: Driving west on the Cure reef-.Js ju progress, and is now in 21ft from the .crosscut. The reef here ie of a mullocKy'nature at present. The north-east drive is now in lOift, and is still in broken, country. The stopes above this level are still confineu west of No. 1 winze, and continue, to produce a fair quantity of crushing dirt. Tae cleaning up for the month will take -place on Saturday, next. MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS. Rising Sun.—Driving on the hangingwall reef lias been in progress during the past week, and the country penetrated is a white sandstone of a good class for golc, and also much easier to break. The reef la . the present face is 4ft wide, and is apparently ..making: larger as the drive advances. Some very good prospects have been oo•taincd .from it during the week. New Bunker's Hill. —The drive, on the lona reef has been extended a distance of 10ft for the week. T ( he leader looks promising, but ■■ so far. no gold has been met with. No. 1 reef has been driven on for 6ft for the week, and the manager has opened out on the cross reef, where the quartz looks very favourable, being well mineralised and also carrying a nice pug casing.. A. drive hae.been started north on the.? Jo. 4' leader, and during the week some good quartz was met with, and has improved greatly since driving has been commenced.
