The French steamer, Briez HueL a vessel of 4845 tons, bound from Valparaiso to Sydney, entered the harbour at 2 o'clock this morning, apparently to obtain coal. She dropped her : anchors., which failed to hold, land the vessel drifted ashore on reef in the vicinity of Shelly Bay, near Point Halswell, on the south side of the harbour. , Tugs have gone to her assistance. The vessel lies in an exposed position, close to the shore, but a strong northerly gale is blowing down on her. The crew are safe. It is expected an attempt will be made to tow the vessel off at high water shortly after one o'clock. The pumps are going, but the extent of the injury sustained by the vessel is not known. LATER. The Breiz Huel arrived in harbour at 2 o'clock this morning. Two anchors were put out, but there was a strong wind and a heavy sea, and the anchors dragged. The vessel went aground at 5 o'clock in a small bay off Evans Day. A tug went out this morning, arid as the tide rose, succeeded in towjng the steanier off. It is understood she is not leaking. She is bound from Valparaiso to Sydney in ballast.
