ANOTHER NARROW ESCAPE.
Three young men, named, .T. Bruce, Walsh, and Barker, of Ponsonhy, who were out sailing in their open boat Veldt yesterday morning, were thrown into the water, off the North Shore, in consequence, of a squall capsizing the boat, which filled and sank. They were twenty minutes in the water before they were picked up by the crew of the yacht Mystery, and taken on board. The Mystery was in charge of Mr H. Martin, who attempted to get alongside the sinking boat, but failed. His brother then pushed out in the yacht's dingey, and picked up Walsh who had let go his hold of the Veldt. The other unfortunate men were picked up by Mr C. Bailey's oil launch, and transferred to the Mystery. All three were landed on the Queen-street wharf. Walsh was very much exhausted when rescued, and ■ had a very narrow escape. As the young men lost their clothes Mr Bailey very kindly supplied them with outfits. The Veldt was afterwards picked up by Mr j W. R. Fairweather's launch, an 3 towed i into Stanley Bay.
