The bulk cl tff November ordeio have now been executed, and generally speaking business is. it i anything, rather quieter man reported in our last. ine nne weather nas materially helped country business, and the wool clip fchould reach the market earlier than usual ' t-h.s year, and the quality should be rather above the average. Interest in trie import market centres cruelly on fruits, the tendency of most lines being decidedly upwards, (.'able advices report a furtber advance in canned fruits. and a;! grades ol evaporated fruits show a tendency towards higher prices, particularly seeded raisins, which have advanced Id per lb since our last report. There seems to be every prospect of sultanas remaining at a ■high level lor some considerable tjine. The shortage ol crop, combined with the information that at least two Turkish Speculators who had made contracts to deliver large parcels of sultanas at ridiculously low rates would not mini their orders has caused a mild excitement in sultanas, both in Australia and New Zealand, and high prices are certain to rule till after Christinas: demand has been satisfied. Currants nave remained steady. Seeded raisins have advanced. Muscatels snow further advances, and prunes strong without change. Cream of tartar has advanced considersuly, and is strong at the advance. The sardine catch is reported a failure, and prices are certain to advance. There is a scarcity of Black Horse salt, and the revent advance in freights brings the cost up to a somewhat high level: in fact, at present laid down prices importers would require about i."4 per ton lor West 011 and Westali's fine salt, which is a considerable advance on the figures at -which other firstclass brands are scud. Kit-e.—Cables received from Japan -.--day report the crop a tailure. ana although the advance we laU-i.v predicted has been some little time in coining, we now regard a smart advance as almost certain. "Wool.—London advices under date of 2Sth .September .state: 'the tilth series of colonial wool Sales for the current year commenced on the '.loth 111 st. with a large attendance of buyers from all sections of the trade.
