CENTRALISING ELECTRIC SUPPLY.
L.C.C.'s Fresh Scheme,
LONDON, November 7
The London County Council, by 80 votes to 34, has decided to promote a bill in Parliament to secure the entire control of the electric power and lighting supply of London.
The " Morning Fosf says that, £4,000,000 will be n-reded for the scheme in the first instance, and ultimately much more, since the Council contemplates supplying the surrounding districts.
[Last year a private bill was introduced enabling a company to supply electricity ou a vast scale and at a cheap rate over a very large area in London. The L.C.C., however, strongly opposed this measure, and introduced a measure of their own. to empower them to buy out the 13 existing companies and to supply the whole of the metropolis with electric energy. The private bill was killed, but so was the measure prepared by the L.C.C., probably rather owing to details than to the g.neral principle involved.]
