THE OTAHUHU DROWNING ACCIDENT.

ESTQUEST ON TREBUCKA. An inquest concerning the death of the Italian, Joseph Trebucka, who lost j his life by drowning by the capsizing of a fishing boat near the Tamaki Bridge, Otahuhu, on Sunday last, was held at the Star Hotel, Otahuhu, yesterday afternoon by the District Coroner (Mr. A. R. Harris). J. Black, the deceased's mate, said that he had known Trebucka about three I and a-half rdonths, and that he was about 2S years of age. Trebucka was j not married as far as witness knew. Joseph Kimble said that he was approaching the bridge when he heard cries, ; and plunged in to the rescue. He had j his clothes on, and owing to the dangerous nature of the river, in which a very swift current was running, he was obliged to abandon the attempt. Evidence was also given by William Brown, who stated that the body was recovered from the river-bed about 15 yards distant from where the drowning man had sunk, and about the same distance from the shore, in about four feet of water. Constable Sherman certified to the finding of the body. The jury returned a verdict "That Trebucka met his death by drowning through the accidental swamping- of the fishing boat Alabama, no blame being attachable to anyone."
