THE OTAHUHU DROWNING ACCIDENT.
HCQTEST OX TRF.BUCKA.
An inquest concerning the death of tho Italian, Joseph Trebucka, who lost his life by drowning by the capsizing of a fibbing boat near the Tamaki Bridge, Otahuhu, on Sunday last, was held at thfi Star Hotel, Otahuhu, yesterday afternoon by the District Coroner (Mr. A. R. flarris).
,1. Black, the deceased's mate, said tluit he had known Trebucka about three and H-lialf months, and that he was about 2S years of age. Trebucka wa3 not married as far us witness knew.
Joseph Kimblo said that be was approaching the bridge when he heard cries, and plunged in to the rescue. He had his clothes on, and owing to the dangerous nature of the river, in which a very swift current was running, be was obliged to abandon the attempt.
Evidence was also given by William Brown, who stated that the body was recovered from the river-bed about 15 yards distant from whore the. drowning man had stink, and about the same distance from the shore, in about four feet of water.
Constable Sherman certified to the finding of the body.
The jury returned a verdict "That Trebucka met bis death by drowning through the accidental swamping - of the fishing boat Alabama., no blame beiDg attachable, to anyone."
