THE MT. ALBERT GREEN\ T.he opening of the Mount Albert Bowling Club took place on Saturday afternoon, jund proved a very successful function, upI wards of two hundred guests being present. J The grounds were daily decorated with I Hags, aud Lester's band enlivened the proI ceedings by various selections during the j afternoon. The club was freely congratulated by the visitors on the beautiful skua-' Ition of its green, the lovely gardens of jFerndalo which adjoins being replete with numerous varieties of flowers in full bloom. The president. Mr. Ashton, in welcoming •the visitors, mentioned that the club was j now entering on its tenth season, being igrea.ly indebted to Mrs. U-arliek, who genj crously gives them the use of her beautiful grounds. He congratulated the g»eeji superintendent, Mr. Parry, on the excellent condition of the green, to whom the members were greatly indebted for the trouble and attention he devoted to his office.| lie also read a telegram from -the llou. O. Fowlds. regretting his Inability to be present on this occasion. Mrs. Ashton performed the usual custom of throwing ihe jack amidst the applause of the spectators. At the close of the games the president called for cheers for the visitors, Mr. Choyce, of the Auckland Club, in replying jfor the visitors, thanked the Mt. Albert - bowlers for a pleasant and enjoyable outling, congratulating the club ou "its lovely surroundings and perfect green, and concluding by calling for cheers for the ladies who had spared no pains in attending to the wants of such a large gathering. The openiug of the Richmond Bowling Club's green took place on Saturday under I the happiest auspices of weather and bowli ing conditions generally. A fair number of visiting bowlers and ladies was present, nnd a very pleasant and enjoyable afternoon was spent. The Hungarian Band cilivened proceedings with music, aud re-i.-shnients were dispensed by the lady . nds of clubmen. Mr. S. Collard (president! welcomed the visitors and hoped all would enjoy themselves. After referring to the good work of the green superintendent. Mr. C. J. Me.Master, he called upon Miss Morley to throw -the jack across the green. At the conclusion of the match ! president's v. vice-president's team, won by the former by 10 points, Mr. "Winks :(T'arltbn Club) returned thanks on behalf ol" the visitors, who gave three hearty cheers for their hosts.
