A MURDEROUS ASSAULT.
fluee Women Savagely Attacked. (Received 10.14 a.m.) MELBOURNE, this day. A young man named rTohnstone ha.s tieen arrested for a murderous assault on three women named Patterson, at South Melbourne. Johnstone had been keeping company with the. younger woman, and the elder remonstrated with him for insulting behaviour, whereupon Iβ assaulted all three with a bar of iron. Hrs. Patterson, who is 76 years of age, is not expected to recover.
