They suggested that the verandah at the side of the house should? be done away ivith, and a passage run, through the middle of the house from the front instead of from the side. Plans C and.D. were objected on the ground that there was too much elaboration outside, the size of the room suffering in "consequence. The deputation proposes that in future no contract should be let for the erection of workers* dwellings," but that they should be erected by the .'Government by day labour, and that when the worker desires to occupy a worker's dwelling he should be allowed to select a locality and the plan of the .cottage. /
